Mount Juliet Wedding at the Manor House & Hunter’s Yard

Shauna & Jonathan | A Mount Juliet Wedding at Hunter’s Yard

Shauna and Jonathan’s Mount Juliet wedding was always going to be about atmosphere over agenda.

The original plan was the Walled Garden. But the forecast was unsettled. Rather than gamble on it, they made the call to bring the ceremony indoors to the McCalmont Suite at Hunter’s Yard. Sensible. Calm. No stress.

That decision shaped the day in a good way.

It meant everything felt contained. Close. Personal. And it freed us up later when the light turned unexpectedly beautiful.

Both of them told me early on that they hate having their photo taken. That’s usually my cue to relax. It means we build the day around reality, not performance.

A Ceremony in the McCalmont Suite

The McCalmont Suite at Hunter’s Yard works extremely well for ceremonies when the weather turns uncertain. It’s clean. It’s balanced. It doesn’t fight you visually.

Michelle O’Shea officiated. The sand ceremony included Grayson. Both mothers came forward to light unity candles. There was a memory candle for grandparents. And just before they were pronounced married, both mothers stepped up to give what they called their “last kiss as a single person.”

That moment landed.

Leinster String Quartet created the atmosphere. Soft. Intentional. Nothing overpowering.

It wasn’t dramatic. It was meaningful. And that’s usually far more powerful.

Letting the Drinks Reception Breathe

They made a conscious decision to leave all portraits until later.

That’s unusual. But it made sense for them.

They wanted to enjoy their drinks reception at the Manor House. Properly enjoy it. Not dip in and out of it.

So we did exactly that.

The reception unfolded outside at the back of the Manor House. Guests relaxed. Emma Walkin from Edit House moved quietly beside me, catching the motion and the small interactions. Grayson bounced between family members. It felt easy.

At around dinner call, as guests began moving toward Hunter’s Yard, we slipped away.

No announcement. No big production.

Just timing.

Summer Light at the Manor House

At the top of the Manor House staircase, the most beautiful summer light was pouring in through the windows.

It wasn’t planned. It wasn’t scheduled.

It was just there.

We stood in it. Let them talk. Let them settle into each other without anyone watching. The light wrapped around them perfectly.

From there, we stepped out onto the lawn with the Manor House rising behind them. The estate felt still. The guests were inside. The energy shifted.

And then something unexpected happened.

The light was so good that I handed the camera to Jonathan.

I invited him to photograph his bride.

He did. He laughed. She laughed. It changed the dynamic completely. Suddenly, the camera wasn’t something happening to them. It was something they were part of.

The photographs he made were brilliant. Full of energy. Full of pride. And completely natural.

That’s the kind of moment you can’t script.

Hunter’s Yard and the Shift in Tone

Dinner in Hunter’s Yard always brings a change in rhythm. It feels more relaxed. Less formal than the Manor House.

Caked by Elisha’s cake was ready. DJ & Sax would take over later. The quartet handed the atmosphere across seamlessly.

Earlier in the week, Grayson had his first day of crèche. The following week, they flew to Spain for a minimoon. Life moving quickly in every direction.

Jonathan messaged when the preview arrived:

“Jesus these are absolutely unreal.”

Shauna followed with:

“They are the most cherished photos we now have… You slotted in like family on the day.”

That’s the part that stays with me.

They didn’t want the theatre. They wanted memory.

And sometimes, the best decision you make at a Mount Juliet wedding isn’t about the ceremony location at all. It’s about trusting the light when it appears and knowing when to step away quietly.
