Frankie Walsh with Liam McCarthy after 50 years - Aspect Photography by Waterford Photographer Shane O’Neill

I had the priviledge of photographing Frankie Walsh, the 1959 Waterford Senior Hurling Captain just before Christmas. He was reunited with the Liam McCarthy Cup (which we sorely had to borrow from Kilkenny for the shoot) on the grounds of Walsh Park to promote a new documentary released by Kevin Casey at WLRFM. Frankie could probably still play Championship Hurling today such is his vigour and fitness. A true living legend.

Coumshingaun

Recently took a trip to Coumshingaun, a glacial or corrie lake set in the Comeragh Mountains, Waterford hoping it had frozen over in the prolonged cold spell we are experiencing in Ireland right now. It wasn’t frozen unfortunately but still well worth the trip. A pond just before the lake itself was almost completely iced over. Here are some of the images I got …

2010 Resolution

New Year - new resolution. This year mine is to update this blog with plenty of interesting and thoughtful images. Here is a shot I’ve been mad to get for years: a long exposure with remotely tripped camera mounted to the bonnet of the car with suction cups travelling down Gladstone St with the Christmas lights overhead captured using a fisheye lens. I can see now why it too so long! Probably should have washed the car first. Here’s to not breaking resolutions .. for once!
